2011: the mythical year

When I first came to college I looked at 2011 as this ethereal year- the year I would graduate. Now that it's here, I'm kind of spurred a little extra to do more, to be more (not that I need a 1/1 date to spur any desire to change, there's just something special about this one). I think knowing I'm about to graduate, knowing that I'm about to start a new (and very scary, not real to me yet) chapter of my life.

People wonder what they could possibly learn in college about themselves that they don't already know- but everyday I figure out a little more, a little more.

This year, I discovered a blog my coworker started of her own- Tasia 30 before 30. She had a shorter time span than I have (she's 29) but I think the concept is beautiful. She lists a list of 30 things she wants to do before she's 30, and then she blogs about the ones she has conquered! Which is too bad that I didn't do this beforehand and put "scuba" and "skydiving" on there. But we'll see. I think this is pretty cool as a concept.

I don't have my list fully created, but I will craft it to completion pretty soon.

What I will start with is:

1. Snowmobile
2. Make a meal for someone without any help
3. Build a bookshelf
4. Cut back my spending to be 300$ per credit card bill
5. Decorate and own my own Christmas tree
6. Snorkel
7. Read through all my Real Simple magazines before buying any more
8. Parasail
9. Hangglide
10. Go camping for at least 3 days
11. Ride my bike as a means of transportation somewhere (I hate bikes)
12. Compile giant photo albums of the albums I already have on Facebook
13. Learn how to change oil in a car
14. Re-attempt snowboarding or downhill skiing
15. Go sailing
16. Go to Florida or Hawaii (one or the other is fine!)
17. Watch these movies: My Best Friend's Wedding, Shawshank Redemption, Slumdog Millionaire, Blind Side (and sooo many more people bother me about seeing)

More to come. :)
